.babymoon.

this past week we got to go on our 'babymoon'.  we went to California and stayed at my granparents house in grass valley.  forrest had never been there before and i figured he would really like it.  the deer practically eat out of your hands, and if you know my husband you know his fascination with animals, not really in the "animals are so cute" way as much as the "i love to hunt animals" kind of way.  my assumptions were right, the first morning we were there he was immediately enthralled with 2 bucks who just sat and watched him from the deck for about 10 minutes.  we explored surrounding areas, went shopping in Nevada city, played at the lake, went to the Sacramento temple, spent a day in san fran and watched the Boston Red Sox play in Oakland (the latter being the main purpose of this trip, Boston is forrest's team and he had never been to an MLB game before).  We had a great time, it is so nice to escape reality sometimes and just be together.  That being said, we are pretty excited for this little guy to join us in a few short months!!

vegas

last week we went to vegas.  we bought a deal on living social and got a steal of a deal at the jw marriott.  we even got a 100 dollar resort credit with which i got a hot stone massage, oh.my.gosh.  heaven on earth.  we spent the rest of the time hanging out with our friends nate & heather and getting to remember why we are best friends {after a week with the twins it was just what we needed}.  i love having those moments when i get to remember who i am and see that fun, flirting, handsome man i fell in love because we don't have to worry about our day to day responsibilities.  i love you forrest brett, thanks for the great week in vegas.

sick week

this week we celebrated the husbands 1/2 birthday.  because i wanted him to feel special.  i've had a cold all week and he has really been the best care taker ever.   i also wanted to try a new recipe for a tres leches cake.  um soggy cake, still not a big fan of that.

and tonight the hubby is working late.  soooo i may have done a little online shopping {finally ordered that watch i've been eyeing on piperlime, because i got a 2O% off and may have had like 1OO dollars in rewards, shhhh don't tell husband. ha kidding, he knows about my naughty spending habits} and some crafting.  i've been wanting to make pillows since we finished the headboard...so, okay not that long.  but today i got the pillow form and found some cute fabric surprisingly at hobby lobby.  so i made my first envelope pillow case with some adorable chevron printed fabric.  more to follow...once i buy more stuff one at a time with my 4O% off coupons, because i'm cool like that.

w e e k e n d

our weekend consisted of some working and a lot of playing.
we finally hung the headboard!! i'm trying to decide if i should paint the word love on it like the headboard i got inspiration from had it, but for now i'm content leaving it plain.  especially because i'm going to make pillows and i feel like that will jazz things up enough.  {don't laugh too hard at our wall, i painted it almost 1O years ago, and it was cool back then...}
friday night we dated it up with a little smashburger, a stop at the mall and then up to sundance for the full moon lift ride.  i've wanted to do that with forrest for 3 years now.  and finally made it.  it was way fun.  we even saw some deer moonlight grazing below us.
sunday night we celebrated one of my best friends birthday.  it was a dress up dinner party.  we had a really great time.  forrest was a real sport, he doesn't even know any of those people and he still came and had an enjoyable time.  he even wore a suit...i didn't even ask him to.  love that boy.

finally forever

i've been absent as of late.  busy working on the road, baking treats and fattening myself up.  which to be honest isn't so awesome.  the last few weeks i've been working out and the number on the scale isn't getting any smaller.  so to appease my sorrow i go and bake some more treats.  it is a vicous, unforgiving cycle.  what's that saying, "a moment on the lips, forever on the hips"  geez i hope that is not true, but that's an entirely different post....i love reading blogs.  and i love looking back on how crazy in love i was with forrest and all the little things while we were dating.  i want to document those things in our life, in some small way.  that being said i'll probably start out with something kind of big.  because it is so special to me.

forrest and i got married last june.  it was a fun, crazy day.  the set up, the barn, the food, the outfits all of it was so perfect.  but deep down i knew that something was missing.  we promised ourselves to each other until death.  how romantic right?  i found myself through the first year of our marriage always wanting to say we'll be together forever, and though that was our goal it felt wrong to say it when it was not reality.  so we immediately started preparing to enter the temple to be sealed together with any future babies that we will be blessed with forever.  everyday i had this fear that something would happen to one of us and we would miss our chance to get sealed because we didn't do it right the first time.  i'd actually always tell forrest you cannot die until after we go through the temple.  mostly as a joke to hide how serious i was about it.  it was a long road.  the few months leading up to it were difficult, actually to be frank it was kind of hell.  my dad always warned me when we got close to going to the temple every trick in the book would be thrown at us.  and wow, things i had not even experienced before.  rough.  forrest and i have never fought but man did we learn how to give the silent treatment.  it felt like we couldn't be around our families because they too were falling apart.  and that is not even half of it.  money, i cannot even start explaning that one.  anyway we made it through those months and to the oquirrh mountain temple {a little info for you, as much as things are hard when you are doing what's right they are that much better because HF knows what he is doing}.  on june 23, 2O12.  1 year from the day exactly.  i've never felt so blessed, and in love with forrest, and acknowledged and knowing i was doing what i was supposed to.  it all felt so right, even though everything went so wrong.  the wind was a complete joke, as i mentioned before...i'm huge, the photographer did not show up until everyone was already gone, it was so hot, and everyone that had brought a camera had dead batteries, go figure.  thanks to a few people we used some iPhone's and got some great pictures.  but really pictures aren't what was important.  i was just glad to be with friends and family and most importantly forrest.  words cannot even explain how much i love that man.  he is so right for me when everything else is wrong.  we had a big dinner planned and honestly all i wanted to do was sit with him in the car for the rest of the day.  i know some of my friends don't see in him what i do, because yes he would rather wear a pair of jordans and a tall tee and watch basketball every night, but no matter what we do he makes me laugh and love being his wife.  so i'm so proud to say that i'm mrs.forrest gillette, not only until we die, but for always.

rock.hardplace.rock.rock.rock.

i feel like i'm trapped...between a rock, another rock, a hard place, & 5 more rocks.
the past week or two i've been so busy it's kinda ridiculously crazy. nice. but crazy. i have so many goals & ambitions i keep trying to narrow down to the best but they are all so good it's really hard to narrow it down.
i feel like forrest and i don't get time for each other, between school, his work, my work {currently at about 4 jobs, don't get me wrong not 4 full time jobs, but it's still been a crazy schedule.} and i get overwhelmed thinking how much more crazy it's going to be when we have babies.
thank heavens i have such a wonderful and loving husband. his sense of humor usually keeps me sane ;) and his loving embrace warms my heart. someday i hope to be as loving and stress free as he is. anyway my primary duties are calling.
p.s. happy super bowl tomorrow, i made homemade football shaped oreos to celebrate!

thankful

for the temple.
the beauty & peace found therein.
the ability to perform baptisms yesterday morning with the man i love.
& for the knowledge of eternal families, that you can attain within those sacred walls.
