i'm busy today baking my life away, finishing up some stockings & gifts, wrapping a few more things & cleaning our disgusting house....gap has kept me busy lately, i've had to neglect a few household chores.

i realize I've been mia. been genuinely busy. way busy. had photo shoots like crazy....which is awesome! working at gap again. which is also great! all those shoots have meant a lot more time editing and delivering images to clients which I LOVE. but i've also had an idea brewing...i have been baking and finding yummy things to make. and i figured in all my spare time ;) I'd love to start catering treats in fact if I could make baking and photographing my main sources of income I'd be in heaven! but I'm kind of stuck, i'm just feeling like I don't know how to start this new venture but it's something I'd really like to pursue. ideas? theories? successes? failures? they are all about to happen but if anyone has tips they would be much appreciated. now it's back to work for this little worker bee

particularly feeling blessed today for my body. I feel very blessed to have the ability to walk. run. work out. be independent. I have been able to run 2 half marathons and intend to run a whole in the next year. I couldn't do MOST of the things that I do without my functioning body. what a miraculous blessing.

i found the best cheesecake recipe.
i know because i have made it 2 times, both times. divine.
first i started with the crust, graham cracker crust. don't even get me started. i could eat that stuff plain.
then i made the filling, & ohhhh so much cream cheese. a disgusting amount. but oh my yum.

and then you go through this rigourous baking process, bake it for 45 min @ one temp & 3O more at a different temp & then you turn off the oven & crack the door & let it continue to bake for 1 more hour, then you must let this baby set over night. but oh the wait is worth it.

alive & doing well.
been doing lots of cooking & schooling & cleaning & being together {not as much of that as we would prefer :(}. & running-the Half marathon is rapidly approaching & decorating & more baking. in between that all we dropped nick off at the mtc so fun! went to Disneyland!!! and Forrest got 107% on a math test.
life has been fabulous & I've been working hard on celebrating the little things....it makes life soooo much better.

tonight i was feeling adventurous when it came to dinner, however my taste buds were feeling kinda like a kid. i wanted a corn dog. with tater tots. wow, the only way it could have gotten any kiddier was with a side of mac & cheese {don't get me wrong, that crossed my mind....but we had that for lunch yesterday}.
in order to justify a corn dog dinner for the hub & i, i decided to make home made corn dogs.
and let me tell you. so bomb. they were super easy to make, & oh so delicious. plus now we have plenty in a ziploc baggy in the freezer to pop in the microwave for an easy lunch on a random day in the near future......

batter recipe & instructions:

1 tbsp vinegar
about 1 cup milk
1.5 cup flour
1 cup yellow corn meal
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsps baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
12-14 hot dogs {i recommend hebrew nationals!!}
popsicle sticks
1. preheat your oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 375 degrees. you need it to be somewhat deep so the dogs can submerge themselves.
2. place the tbsp of vinegar in a measuring cup, then add enough milk to equal 1 cup. stir & let sit for 5 minutes.
3. whisk together the flour, corn meal, sugar, baking powder, salt, & baking soda in a large bowl. add milk & eggs then whisk until combined.
4. insert popsicle sticks/skewers in hot dog, dip in batter. coat hot dog well & fry in oil until golden brown. place on paper towels to soak up extra oil. enjoy.
try it, you'll be amazed.

in celebration i made her some minion cupcakes in honor of "despicable me".

they were quite a hit & pretty yummy too.

to our little family this means camping. and this year it even meant some more hunting. I had so much fun. we fished. hiked. hunted. played card games. snuggled in a tent. ate large amounts of junk....& thought that was a good idea at the time.

also one of the coolest things ever! Saturday night forb & i were sitting on a log being silent and still {it's amazing how much you notice and hear} when a doe walked right up and stared us down for several minutes and a few different times. she could smell us but couldn't see us. it was honestly one of the neatest things! how was your labor day?

trust; [noun] to have confidence or reliance on somebody or something. or to confidently allow somebody to do something.
i guess I've always had a struggle trusting and relying on other people. i think it's just the way I was built. it's always made more sense to be independent and do everything myself. if something doesn't get done it's my fault. I don't have to redo something that someone else already did because it's been done wrong. sure sometimes it makes life more busy & stressful than it needs to be but i'm a big planner and checking things off make me feel accomplished.
being independent has never been a problem.
but now, now I see what a hinderance the inability to trust is. I think I've gotten better at trusting but I still can't let go completely, I try not to let people close enough to cause pain. there is one man though who I love enough that I let him in. sometimes it's total and complete reliability on him and other times it's 90%. but I can definitely see the lack of ability to trust on my part becoming an issue. so because I want to trust in him & everyone 100% I need your help.
how do I reverse my inability to trust those closest to me? or anyone for that matter?

this last Monday we spent all day fishing up at mill hollow with a lot of the family! we caught at least 3O fish. and I finally learned how to successfully hook and reel in a fish! we had a fun time hanging out. eating treats. getting some serious rays of sun and venturing around the lake.

so I am officially becoming a gillette. meaning I got my first hunting tag. it is indeed an archery deer tag. I feel no need to justify my attempting to shoot a deer to anyone out there. you may think it's cruel or disgusting but for us it saves a crap load of money on meat!! forrest and I hardly ever buy beef because we eat deer and elk. it's awesome!
but aside from that I've loved spending time with the hubby learning to do archery and I'm excited for the fond camping/hunting memories that will soon be made :).

we were lucky ducks. Saturday we got to go to the Kenny chesney concert! we were about 2nd row in the grass & minus all the drunk people it was awesome!

there were some mean clouds. thought for sure we were going to get drenched!!

but we only felt a few drops and than rocked out with Kenny for the rest of the night!!!

sorry for the lack of blogging...been busy as of late. I mean we are down to 23 days bahh can you believe it?!
and not gonna lie you all know I cannot wait to marry forb but I'm getting real tired of all this pre-wedding stuff. not to mention the drama involved...apparently some of his friends thrive on drama me not so much so that's fun. but this weekend was a much needed relaxing time. we also hiked timp in great time and the cave was loads of fun!

it was pretty rainy yesterday but somehow we avoided getting wet & because there was so much water it created a couple natural waterfalls it was really awesome!

remember the time I went to school to be a photographer & i wanted to actually do that...finally working on it.

also wedding countdown is down to the 40's wooo! (even if that means barely in the 40's :)

went skiing with mama gillette, brady, & forb. first time in at least 10 years. started out super sketchy but i had so much fun. well not much to say that you don't already know...i could rave about the boy & how i'm the luckiest because he is my valentine or how perfect he is for me. but i know you all already know how much i adore him because it isn't just on valentines that he makes me feel special or that i am gushy about us being love birds.

that being said, on valentines day he really surprised me & set up a fancy dinner {he brought in the trees, the chandelier, the table, everything}.

it was perfection.

we had dinner & watched a movie of my choice.

nothing superbly different than a normal night for us.

& guess what...i wouldn't change a thing, because everynight with him really is bliss.

now i realize i have sucked as of late...been busy trying to live a little. since then i've completed my first 1/2 marathon {meaning there will be more to come} in 2hrs & 18 minutes. honestly one of the hardest things i have ever done.

made forb ride a horse...he is more terrified of them then i am.

attempted to eat about 5 lbs of food...the burger was literally the size of my faceeee. never again.

we went shooting so i could practice for the ducks. all i have to say is watch out duckies because you are goin down. and man am i one lucky girl...to be in love with a boy who will be able to provide dinner no matter what ha ha, we happened across a wild chicken...so of course forb shot it. we had every intention of plucking & cooking the poor little thing but failed to realize that we should probably let the blood drain before it ruined all the meat...but now we know for next time :) i focused really hard because forrest said i had to hit the clay pigeons or he wouldn't take me hunting...& i really want to go hunting so it took all my focus to shoot!

the other night forrest & i went to dinner at cpk {california pizza kitchen} we were sitting there talking, waiting for our food & forrest was talking about his bills. this is what he said " then i'll only have my cell phone, gas, & you as bills." i couldn't contain my excitement, i really like the kid. who would have thought being called a bill could be so romantical?

so you may not believe that on monday i called 104.3 the cowboy & quali-flyed for a drawing for a trip to see george & reba in nashville on september 11th. {also received a cd from the stash}
if you don't believe that you especially will not believe that the very next day i called 101.5 the eagle because i was determined to win brad paisley tickets. i took a break @ work at 12:10 so i could go out to my car & listen for the brad paisley song & on my last attempt to call in it rang & rang, i was about to hang up because i figured they already had the winner & all of a sudden he answers & said i was caller 10 & asked if i wanted a pair of brad paisley tickets i was freakinggg out & practically yelled "more than you know!!!"!! you serioulsy would have thought i won the lottery. so if my luck continues on friday morning i'll hear my name on 104.3 ksop@ 7:15 am which means i would win the fly away to nashville. i really think i'd pass out.

sorry for the immensely depressing blog post.
things are still rough around my neck of the woods & i miss my best friend a little more each day but i know in the end things will play out how they are meant to.
until that happens i have decided to focus a little bit more on the one thing i do have control over & that is me. i'm gonna rededicate myself to the gospel. get the career i want & back into photography. start working out again & learning more about patience. i thought i had acquired patience...but learned i'm far from mastering that little virtue. so here is to learning more about handling lifes twists & turns & faith & patience.
on an exciting note i'm starting to take pictures again...my favorite from kami & robbie's engagements. they get married september 18th couldn't be more excited for them! <3

the last 48 hours have been eventful, but i feel numb to it all, & i'm hoping this will somehow reach you.
i've been dying to tell you about the bomb threat @ work & how they didn't even inform us or evacuate us.
or how the little midget lady tried to peek out my window to see why cops were everywhere & it took her 3.4 minutes to realize that she was too short to see over the suburban i had to bite my lip from laughing out loud & asking her if she wanted a boost.
or how the spreadsheet from you know where came back today & all i could do was laugh because i wanted to cry.
or how i wanted to text you: "niu".
or how i ran into my 9th grade seminary teacher & felt awful i couldn't remember his name & he remembered me.
or show you the hilarious youtube video megan showed me so we could make it a new inside joke.
or how my scriptures that have been lost for months randomly showed up in the lost & found.
or how i'm taking engagement pictures for one of my good friends who is getting married in 6 weeks & i'm actually pretty nervous about it, but in a good way.
or how i tried to find the big dipper tonight so i could tell you i found it first & hoped you were trying to find it too.
or how i'm finally pursuing the career i want & i'm gonna at least fake it big until i make it big no matter how long it takes.
or how i still can't make myself list my car on ksl & how i'd secretly hope you would tell me not to sell it again or that i needed to sell it & buy a truck so i would be safe.

but the truth is, maybe i'd just cry & tell you that getting out of bed in the morning is the hardest. because i still know today i won't see you but i still hope beyond anything else the next time i look at my phone the text will be from 'forrester'or i'll drive home & see your red truck parked out front or how i keep faking smiles because i know one day it will feel normal again. and how i miss you being the last person i talk to at night & the first person in the morning. & maybe i'd want you to lie & say this big hole in my heart will eventually get smaller and i'll remember how to talk to people without feeling awkward. but tonight i know i'm stuck talking to myself.

camping

we went camping up @ forest lake this weekend {af canyon past tibble fork}
it is quite an excursion to get there, some serious off roading. but it was sooo fun & really beautiful!

first we set up camp & my wonderful boyfriend cooked dinner which consisted of italian sausages with imported cheese in the middle...fortunately camping is totally his thing so he does everything...the only time it isn't great is when i have to eat what i'm given which i guess is good for me :)

then we had a campfire, sat around & talked about twilight of all things ha. & we danced to what i call our song "than" by brad paisley. so cuteee he is always doing sweet little things that make me smile!

in the morning we did some more off roading & hanging out. it was a perfect camping trip! {minus the fact that i had to pee @ 3 in the am, that was fun}

overall conclusion: camping is fun once again!

turned 22. had an awesome day. lots of love from everyone, i have such amazing friends & family! the boy tricked me in order to surprise me, & i must say even though it was a mean trick i loved it. i think he loved it more than me though.
here is the gift wrapped & waiting for me to open it...wal-mart bag classy {not only was it wrapped in a wal-mart bag, it was 5 bags, newspaper ad & another wal-mart bag ha ha}

this is the best picture because at this point i thought he really had gotten me a piggy bank & he is stoked because i was so disappointed.

come to find out i had a coupon for dinner & tim mcgraw tickets on july 30th waiting inside the piggy bank for me!!! {as a clue the card said, remember its whats inside that really matters} just what i wanted!!!!

mint brownies :) then we went to the pg rodeo so fun but freezingggg!!
it really was the best birthday i can remember, 22 isn't so bad yet.
