Surrealism

I am having the hardest time starting this project. Here are some of my favorite Jerry Uelsmann pictures that I would like to emulate in this assignment although I am beginning to think that near impossible and I am extremely amazed that he did his work in the darkroom, I can't even do it on photoshop. His work is simply put capitol Amazing!!! The last 2 are my favorite, I am loving the tree sign more everytime I look at it.

CD examples

I know it is a bit late but these were the cd cover's I was attempting to emulate.. I really love the Dierks Bentley cover and want to try and do a picture like it sometime. I still need to come up with an idea for my lighting portfolio so maybe I could do something related to that although I am not quite sure what my theme would be any ideas........

Half the anticipation is OVER

I have been stressing for the past 3 months, trying to improve, create and stretch myself to create a portfolio worthy of entering the BFA program at UVSC emphasis in photography. Finally I can rest for a weekend because all my hard work has paid off and I will be submitting my PDF presentation tomorrow morning. I did all I could, honestly I am so nervous, I am just planning on not getting in. Than I will know things I should improve on and have a whole year to work on it and be amazing next year, but hey it wouldn't hurt to get in this year!! I always plan for the worst. I do not think it will let me post my pdf presentation but I will try. Thanks to
Simon for the help and showing me how to create a pdf, etc. As well here is the finished CD project for Garth Brooks aka Bobby Lee. Thanks to Travis for helping me measure and figure out all the 15/16ths haha. I was pretty happy how it turned out. The boots are my least favorite part, I wanted to do oven mitts on hay to match the other cooking faux pas image, but discovered our mitts are more of a rectangluar thing you put your hands in and decided against it. Regardless, this assignment was much more fun than I was anticipating.

Funny email

I thought this was pretty funny, it made my friday at work not so boring.......

A 3-year-old tells all from his mother's rest-room stall
By Shannon Popkin
My little guy, Cade, is quite a talker. He loves to communicate and does it quite well. He talks to people constantly, whether we're in the library, the grocery store or at a drive-thru window. People often comment on how clearly he speaks for a just-turned-3-year-old. And you never have to ask him to turn up the volume. It's always fully cranked. There've been several embarrassing times that I've wished the meaning of his words would have been masked by a not-so-audible voice, but never have I wished this more than last week at Costco. Halfway, through our shopping trip, nature called, so I took Cade with me into the rest-room. If you'd been one of the ladies in the rest-room that evening, this is what you would have heard coming from the second to the last stall: 'Mommy, are you gonna go potty? Oh! Why are you putting toiwet paper on the potty, Mommy? Oh! You gonna sit down on da toiwet paper now? Mommy, what are you doing? Mommy, are you gonna go stinkies on the potty?' At this point I started mentally counting how many women had been in the bathroom when I walked in. Several stalls were full ... 4? 5? Maybe we could wait until they all left before I had to make my debut out of this stall and reveal my identity Cade continued, 'Mommy, you ARE going stinkies aren't you? Oh, dats a good girl, Mommy! Are you gonna get some candy for going stinkies on the potty? Let me see doze stinkies, Mommy! Oh .. Mommy! I'm trying to see in dere Oh! I see dem. Dat is a very good girl, Mommy. You are gonna get some candy!' I heard a few faint chuckles coming from the stalls on either side of me. Where is a screaming newborn when you need her? Good grief. This was really getting embarrassing. I was definitely waiting a long time before exiting. Trying to divert him, I said, 'Why don't you look in Mommy's purse and see if you can find some candy we'll both have some!' ' No, I'm trying to see doze more stinkies. Oh! Mommy!' He started to gag at this point.>\ 'Uh oh, Mommy I fink I'm gonna frow up. Mommy, doze stinkies are making me frow up!! Dat is so gross!!' As the gags be came louder, so did the chuckles outside my stall. I quickly flushed the toilet in hopes of changing the subject. I began to reason with myself: OK. There are four other toilets. If I count four flushes, I can be reasonably assured that those who overheard this embarrassing monologue will be long gone. 'Mommy! Would you get off the potty, now? I want you to be done going stinkies! Get up! Get up!' He grunted as he tried to pull me off. Now I could hear full-blown laughter. I bent down to count the feet outside my door. 'Oh, are you wooking under dere, Mommy? You wooking under da door? What were you wooking at, Mommy? You wooking at the wady's feet?' More laughter. I stood inside the locked door and tried to assess the situation. 'Mommy, it's time to wash our hands, now. We have to go out n ow, Mommy.' He started pounding on the door. 'Mommy, don't you want to wash your hands? I want to go out!!' I saw that my 'wait 'em out' plan was unraveling. I sheepishly opened the door, and found standing ou t side my stall, twenty to thirty ladies crowded around the stall, all smiling and starting to applaud. My first thought was complete embarrassment, then I thought, 'Where's the fine print on the 'motherhood contract' where I signed away every bit of my dignity and privacy?' But as my little boy gave me a big, cheeky grin while he rubbed bubbly soap between his chubby little hands, I thought, I'd sign it all away again, just to be known as Mommy to this little fellow.

Update

Wow I can't believe it is March 6th, practically the 7th already!! Time is flying by........ This upcoming week is spring break, (it technically starts on Wednesday but 3 of my 5 classes are cancelled!) Simon gave us the assignment of doing something fun and relaxing for ourselves. I hope to do something of the sort but I am planning on using most of the time for my portfolio that is due on March 21st!! (well that is when I am not at work earning as much money as possible) Today was Azure's birthday she turned 7, its pretty crazy. Whenever I asked her what she wanted me to get her she would say underwear as a joke, and for christmas she asked for fuzzy (fuze as she wrote) socks so I told her I was going to mix the two and get her fuzzy underwear she laughed and said I wouldn't but I told her I would. So last night she said before bed, Fine put my fuzzy undies on my bed so I can wear them in the morning. I was laughing so hard. Sad to report I did not find fuzzy undies and just had to settle for normal but I made her wait to open them until we were at her birthday dinner at Macaroni Grill ;) She was pretty embarassed and than expected them and said these are not fuzzy. It was pretty great, but anyway happy birthday az. (oh and when we got home she was showing me and lexi her Littlest pet shop cake and all of a sudden bam it was on the floor and azure was crying saying oh I shouldn't have showed you it, I am grounding myself all week. I was trying not to laugh so I wouldn't hurt her feelings. It was super cute and funny)......... I took pictures of Gabby today at the studio and I think some turned out pretty cute, she was such a toot though. I was seriously trying to do anything to maker her smile and laugh and hold still. I am glad for spring break and I here are some of my recent assignments and some of Shanna and Austin.
I did this as a combination of sunlight and another continuous light for lighting. I like the way it turned out and LOVED the clouds and I adore these lights.

My dad the cowboy, for a CD cover I am working on for Digital.

Another light one that I really liked!!
